Former Talking Heads drummer says drunken driver hit him head-on in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD CT— Two former members of the rock band Talking Heads said they “walked away” from a crash on Post Road this month after their SUV was struck head-on by an alleged drunk driver.

Chris Frantz, the band’s former drummer, said in a Facebook post his wife and fellow bandmate Tina Weymouth, the group’s former bassist, suffered three fractured ribs in the crash.

“She’s been in a lot of pain, but she will get better with time,” Frantz wrote in the post on Sunday. “I give thanks to our guardian angels and to the Ford Motor Company for building a car that protected us from getting killed.”

Frantz also posted a photo of the wrecked SUV, showing heavy front-end damage to the white Ford.

Frantz said the other driver was on the wrong side of the road when the crash occurred.

Fairfield police logs show a three-car, head-on crash was reported near the area of Boston Post Road and Kings Lane at 8:45 p.m. on March 13. A 64-year-old man was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right, according to the police log.
